How Our Services Help
OBGYN Billing & Coding Best Practices
Billing and coding for Obstetrics/Gynecology are complicated, and coding missteps can cost you. However, picking the correct diagnosis code for claims for insurances can significantly increase your reimbursements.
- Ensure you understand the payers billing guidelines for deliveries, antepartum care and global codes. Each payer plan differs.
- To collect the patient, portion of the delivery, create an “OB Contract.”
- Use global codes for maternity care. Avoid billing separately for services already included in these codes.
- Remember to user separate E/M codes when appropriate. You can use these codes for services that aren’t related to maternity care.
- For HCPCS codes G0101, Q0091 reimbursement is possible only once every year except during medical necessity.
